Scout Wobbleboarding

We offer an exciting programme of Scouting activities for boys and girls aged 6 to 14 years old.

Young people can join the adventure in one of our five sections:

We currently have around 140 young members from Stanstead Abbotts, Stanstead St. Margaret's, Great Amwell, Hoddesdon, Hertford Heath, Roydon and Ware.

With over 30 enthusiastic adult volunteers, we are an active and successful Scout Group always looking for new members, both young people and adults.

Extra Thurs night Beaver Leaders needed for Sept

photo 3 576x768 copyOur Thursday night Woodland Beavers need extra adult volunteers from September after two of their fantastic leaders Keith (Moose) and Karen (Mole) step down at the end of term.

Woodland Colony's Beaver Leader Jo has a full and exciting programme all lined up for the girls and boys next term, but needs additional adults to maintain the required adult : child ratio for all their activities, trips, events and many adventures.

There's so much to tell about Volunteering at our Scout Group and being part of the UK's biggest Youth Organisation - The Scout Association -  we've written a "Job Advertto show you. Scouts try 3 Water Activities

A Fun time Kayaking 1024x678Some stayed dry, some got a little damp and others got really, REALLY wet - but the all the Scouts seemed to have a great time trying out Bell Boating, Kayaking and Stand-Up-Paddle-Boarding down at the Herts Young Mariners Basin....

Beavers' mini Allotment update

photo 1 1023x1365photo 2 1023x1365Update from the Beavers' mini Allotment: "Our garden has been overflowing thanks to the great bouts of sunshine we have had.
The Beavers have already had to pick spring onions, carrots and spinach early!
So we have now had to plant lots of new vegetables in their place!
Quite soon we will have to dig up all our new potatoes for all the families to enjoy with their summer salads and new Strawberry plants have been planted this month and are already starting to produce some big strawberries!"

 
Scouts Sail, Raft and Wobble-board at ESSA

1 fun sailing best 1024x678The Scout Troop enjoyed another very busy and active evening at ESSA's lake.

We invested Charlotte and Maddie, Pat awarded the Chief Scout's Gold Awards to Tilly, Adam and George and then the Scouts practiced their raft building and racing, tried out and learnt some sailing skills and nearly stayed on our wobble boards! Lots of photos from the evening now in the Gallery.

Science Experiments @ Forest Beavers

photo 2 1024x768Our Forest Beavers carried out 4 experiments down at HQ last week, including rolling cans without touching them, making an egg float, making colours dance in milk and making sandwich bags explode - it's probably not too surprising which was their favourite experiment - nor the messiest!

Dragon Boating Panther Cubs

Panther Pack on the water 1024x678Panther Pack had a great time Dragon Boating and paddling down at the ESSA lake. From the comments made by the Cubs below, there must be a story to tell about a dropped paddle but their Akela is pretty sure they'd give the Scouts a pretty good race any day! Read on to hear what they all thought of their adventure

Chief Scout's Gold Awards for Tilly, Adam & George

tilly george and adam and pat gold awards smallHuge congratulations to Tilly, Adam and George who were presented with their Chief Scout's Gold Awards on Friday while the Scouts were all down at the ESSA Lake for an evening on the water. 

The Chief Scout's Gold Award is the highest award a Scout can achieve in the Scout section and when Ware & District's Assist Commissioner for Scouts, Pat Horridge came down to the lake to present the three Scouts with their Chief Scout's Gold Awards they were all kitted out in their sailing kit and ready for another night of fun and adventure sailing, rafting and paddleboarding on the water....

Scouts abseil down Hertford Castle

1546060 912949945432459 7365792470071982178 n 1024x576Well done to all the Scouts who abseiled off Hertford Castle on Sunday and huge thanks to Hertfordshire Scouts who ran the the abseiling as part of the Hertford Community Sports Day.

The view from the top of the 75ft tower was pretty fantastic too!
