Catching up on our Woodland Beavers' news:
Saturday, 18 July 2015 10:00

We've been hearing all about our Woodland Beavers very busy last few weeks - building burning and baking on bonfires, putting up tents and learning about what we need for camping, making chocolate bananas and toasting marshmallows, learning First Aid and practicing our skills.

Plus they've been playing lots of games and learning to work in teams and getting to know each other even better.  The girls and boys really loved the hilarious paper ball 'snowball fight' invasion games and of course the obligatory water fights to stave off the summer heat!

Bees visit our Panther Cubs
Friday, 17 July 2015 08:26

Panther Pack enjoyed a fascinating visit from Great Amwell Scout Group's Andy French who very kindly brought alsong his honey bees for the Cubs to meet.

The girls and boys had a great time with Andy and his bees including the Queen Bee and of course some of their honey. Andy also showed some slides and a few short videos about the life of honey bees, and then told then all about the life of a honey bee.

It was a fantastic evening, Elaine, their Akela said "we all learnt loads about the honey bee, lots of facts that even I didn't know and we discovered that the drones (male bees) are extremely lazy! The Cubs found it fascinating - even some of the parents and siblings stayed to listen."

Forest Beavers got into the Wimbledon spirit down at St Margaretsbury Tennis Club and a special friend popped down to present some Chief Scouts Bronze Awards to Tom Lethbridge and George Dumont who couldn't make it to our AGM and Awards night in May.

Congratulations once again Tom and George and huge thanks to the team at St Margaretsbury for giving our Beavers such a fun time. Thank you too to Peter Raymen who came down from Ware & District Scouts to make the presentations.
