1st Stanstead Abbotts and St. Margaret's Scout Group

Of the 120 teams who entered we managed to gain a very respectable 48th place in the final scoring and an amazing 6th in the orienteering section of the event.

The weather was the worst Gilwell as seen in many a year and a number of tents succumbed to the howling wind and driving rain. Thankfully the wise investment in our more expensive tentage ensured our Scouts stayed dry and safe in their tents. Not much sleep was gained by anyone Friday and Saturday nights due to the weather but spirits where high and everyone had a good but tiring time. I imagine a few scouts fell asleep in the warmth and comfort of their car journey home...

The Gallery has a number of pictures available to registered users. Most are not of our Scouts as I'm not allowed to be on the competition field near my own Scouts but the pictures give you an idea of the activities they will have been doing.

One of the pictures shows the HQ full of wet tents hung up on Sunday after the event and still to be packed away before the next use of the hall.
