The Beavers gathered in the field for games at the beginning of Thursdays meeting and to look at some newly hatched Tadpoles that Badger had bought in for them to see from her large Natural Pond.
They then went into the Scout Hut to decorate paper kite shapes, and fix sticks and string onto them to make their own Kites. Returning back out into the field afterwards to fly them, all went well as it was a windy day. Once they had worked out the wind direction, they all managed to achieve "lift off".
Everyone enjoyed some drinks and biscuits back in the Hut before District Toad (Sue Vaughn) awarded India her Chief Scout's Bronze Award - India has now worked for and gained the highest award in Beavers, and was presented with her Chief Scout's Bronze Award Badge and a Certificate to mark the occasion.
This badge is the highest award available in the Beaver Scout section. It is gained by completing 6 Challenge Badges which are:
- Creative Challenge
- Fitness Challenge
- Friendship Challenge
- Global Challenge
- Outdoor Challenge
- Promise Challenge
Then Beth was given her Leavers Certificate. She has been with the Beavers since the age of 6 years, and will be going up to join the Cubs after Easter. She then "swam" round the Group to say goodbye, and symbolised her "Swimming up to Cubs".
This was the last meeting before the Easter Break - so everyone said Goodbye for the Holidays, and Goodnight in the usual way - with a closed, then extending outwards circle chanting the letters of the word "G O O D N I G H T".
