Thirteen Scouts and a selection of Leaders joined other Scouts and Guides from around the District and Devon for the annual Introduction to the Hills weekend in the Peak District. Setting off in a convoy of mini buses the Scouts were ready and prepared for a 3 days of Hiking, Biking, Orienteering and Climbing.
The Scouts were split into groups from all the different Scout and Guide groups, giving everyone the chance to meet new people and make new friends as well as catch up with old ones. The sunny but windy weather gave the Scouts a great opportunity to see the Peak District in all its glory, although for some the wind during the 8 mile bike ride made the going a bit harder. For many it was their first time climbing on rock, but as always, with the experts and instructors leading them through their activities everyone had a fantastic time.
The Leaders’ after dinner cabaret on one night had the Scouts and Guides in stitches with their hilarious ‘rubber chicken’ songs and games. With such fun and adventures it unsurprising that the weekend is a huge favourite of the Scouts. Lots of photos yet to come. |
