During the past few weeks the Jaguar Cubs have been working towards their Communicator Activity Badge. They learnt all about different ways on communicating - talking, fax machines, semaphore, braille, non-verbals. Learnt the phonetic alphabet and even played Chinese Whispers - with some very interesting results!

Michelle visits with and her Guide Dog for the Blind

We had a visit from a wonderful lady, Michelle, who was blinded at the age of 18, and she came along with her guide dog Radleigh. She has been totally blind for 23 years. She had so much information to impart about how she now lives her life, how the guide dogs are trained, how she was trained to be able to use a guide dog and items and methods available to her to enable her to lead her life. The Cubs were amazing - so interested, so well behaved and took it all in....an absolute credit! This was organised through the Herts Society for the Blind who brought Michelle along to speak with the Cubs.

Saving the world.......The Cubs made 20 bird feeders out of plastic bottles and left them out in the adjacent field with seeds in for the birds to make use of. This is part of their Global Challenge / Global Conservation Badges.

Next Friday they are are off to Paradise Wildlife Park for the day and an input on 'survival of the fittest - all in preparation to learn about the Jaguar.
