Celebrating the end of yet another very busy and active Summer Term, the Beavers and their parents were also saying a goodbye to some of the Leader Team. After some fun and games in the field trying to find 'Hare' in a game of Hide and Seek, the Beavers played some traditional party games such as Musical Chairs and Pass the Parcel inside. After some party food kindly supplied by the parents, everyone took part in a 'Beavers Got Talent Contest' The Judges were Beaver Joshua, Leader Badger (aka Gini Trower) and Assistant Leader 'Hare (aka Helen Lovick) with Assistant leader 'Squirrel (aka Sarah Mason) as Compare! The acts included some football Skills, dancing – ballet and breakdancing and even some juggling by another Young Leader 'Stag' (aka Tom Mason)

As the evening was drawing to a close, two surprise visitors arrived to join in the celebrations and make some special awards. The Beavers were each awarded their 'Activity Badge' which they had been working towards all term. Then Group Scout Leader Paul Stretch and Sue Vaughan, Assistant District Commissioner Beavers presented Beaver Colony Leader Gini Trower and Assistant Beaver Leader Helen Lovick with their five year service certificates and badges.

Badger, Hare, Squirrel and Stag were then presented with flowers and chocolates and cards signed by all the boys and girls in the Woodland Beaver Colony, thanking them for all the wonderful times they had given the Woodland Colony Beavers over the years. The Leaders' shared passion for introducing and encouraging their Beavers to explore and enjoy the outdoors, as well as learn many other things through their badge work, had the girls and boys out in the fields and countryside on a regular basis. Visits to Gini Trower's farm were always a firm favourite and we hope will continue

A huge vote of thanks and best wishes went to Gini, Helen, Tom and Sarah as they go on to some new challenges of their own including exams and courses. The Woodland Beavers will be starting their new term on Thursday 8th September and the programme already looks set for more fun, adventures and new challenges. Anyone who would be interested in joining the Leader Team in September would be very welcome and are asked to contact Paul Stretch via the website www.stansteadabbottsscouts.org.uk
