The Panther Cub Pack took part in the Oxley Shield competition on Saturday 10th September. The skills they needed included knots, map and compass, tracking, tent pitching, fire lighting and fire safety, and an assault course.

They also had to make the evening meal for both themselves and the leaders. We had spaghetti bolognese which was cooked on an altar fire, this was followed by strawberry Angel Delight topped with squirty cream, sliced strawberries and sprinkles – it was delicious!

In the evening they had a wide game. This was followed by lots of singing and sketches round the camp fire. They were all tucked up inside their tent and asleep by 10pm.

On the Sunday, it was the Wildgoose Trophy competition. They made a fantastic bunch of flowers out of egg boxes and tissue paper for me – I have taken them home and put them on my windowsill.

All in all, Panther Cub Pack had a fantastic weekend and I was very proud of them. Well done!
