Remembrance Weekend - Beavers, Cubs and Scouts Print E-mail

This year’s Remembrance Sunday Service was yet again very well attended at St Andrew’s Church, with 83 Beavers, Cubs and Scouts plus all their Leaders and helpers, all smartly turned out, parading with their colour flags. Their presence and good behaviour was much appreciated and commented on by the assembled congregation and watching crowd at this important community event.

The day before, the Panther Pack had spent all day Saturday in London, watching the traditional Lord Mayor's Show and then visiting the Transport Museum, before returning by train and 'replacement bus service' to sleep in St Andrew's Church's Wilshere Hall. With the church bells chiming each and every 15 minutes through the night, the Cubs looked surprisingly alert as they paraded outside the church for the service and parade.

The Forest Colony Beavers had a Second World War themed sleepover at the Scout HQ from lunchtime Saturday and for many it was their first ever 'camp' with the Scout Group or even night away from home away from family. Sleeping inside and in tents, they had a wail of a time and were really keen to do it all again as soon as possible.

The Scouts made brilliant turnout with 23 Scouts arriving for the morning's service and Act of Remembrance. Leigh P (the elder) carried the flag, supported by Tristan and Nathan as Colour Sergents. The Scout's wreath was laid by Holly, (the younger!) with other Beavers and Cubs carrying their own section flags and laying their own wreaths along with many other members of the community.
