Our brilliant Scouts won the District Cooking Competition and brought home yet more silverware last night and will now go on to represent our District and compete at County level next Sunday! (See photo in the Gallery)
Of course it has been a whole troop effort with all the practicing that we have done for the last four weeks and the superb table decorations made by those not competing last week - they scored maximum points for them so bearing in mind there was only 2 points between first and second place it all counts...thank you to the leaders, parents and scouts - to everybody involved. - Neil J Scout Troop Leader
Well cooked Lenny, Holly Georgia Mc and Grace ! Good Luck next week!
A bit of background:-
The Annual Ware and District Cooking Competition: The standard of cooking at the competition is always fantastically high showing some fantastic teamwork and planning skills. During the evening teams of 4 Scouts from throughout the Ware and District area prepare, cook, serve and then eat a themed 3 course meal using 2 gas stoves and a limited selection of cooking equipment that they bring with them on the night. The competition took place at the 2nd Ware Scout Group's HQ building in Ware.
This year's theme was based upon the Diamond Jubilee and the standard of the dishes offered by all the Scout Troops taking part are always very sophisticated, delicious and often very clever too!
The teams are marked on a variety of criteria. such as
Menu selection and Costing
Teamwork, Hygiene and Cooking skills
Table Layout and decoration and Team appearance
Food serving timings for each course
The teams are marked by a panel of judges. |
