1st Stanstead Abbotts and St. Margaret's Scout Group

The Parish Council and Playground Committee thanked everyone who came along on Sunday to help with the Phase 2 - Clean up session.

With several Scouts, siblings, parents and other members of the community lending a hand, the 2 hour session went really well.  A huge amount of litter was collected and bagged up and then some fantastic shrub clearing took place with Jonathan on a chainsaw cutting back trees and bushes and a host of others with loppers, choppers, secateurs and a lot of clearing up muscle. 

Gini helped Hannah and Rosie to plant snowdrops and some young trees, while Oliver K and Oliver C cleared a huge area under a tree with some help from Keith and some others revealing a great natural play area. The organisers said it was a great start to Phase 2.

Huge piles of logs and branches were created during the morning and everyone agreed that the area seemed a lot bigger with so many branches cut down and debris cleared away.

Members of the Playground Committee and Parish Council were very keen to point out that a master plan for the area had yet to be finalised and that all ideas for the area were still being requested from all members of the community.

We understand there will be another session planned quite soon.
